Make the Online TV Bussiness Quiet!

Posted by dkahn on September 7, 2007

There’s too much TV online now these days. I think it’s one of the biggest online businesses. A new TV application, made by HP, is going to be put on all running HP computers  it’s going to be an upgrade for all running HP’s running Windows Vista. They’re also working on giving this TV application to non-HP owners to run on their desktops. Their website is called next.tv.

Call Someones Email Address?

Posted by dkahn on September 2, 2007

Yoomba is a Beta service that allows you to call people up when they’re in their email account. The first time you call someone it just sends an invitation to this service. It currently works on Outlook 2000 and up, Outlook Express, Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, and Aol. I don’t know if it works for mac users (please confirm if it does or does not), but it does not work for Windows Vista (hence why I’m not using it). They are working on a new version for Windows Vista though.

Freewebs has alot of new spunk!

Posted by dkahn on September 2, 2007

Remember that old Freewebs? The one where you could go and create a website just in a snap? Well look at Freewebs now. It’s candy to the eye and now it has just added some new features that will make you mind blow.

Okay, first, I would like to point out that I was once a Freewebser so I have a reason to be all ga-ga after what they have done.

#1. People can now join your website and become members.

#2. Freewebs has built a mailing list system for people’s website.

and now for the good parts…

#3. Reverbnation has agreed to give Freeweb users all access to their music so that they can create lists of music for their users to listen to and in very good players which Freewebsers can design.

Now for the best part…

#4. Gizmoz is a 3D animated talking avatar that allows you to greet you viewers with a flare of personality. You can choose a bunch of different people, from famous to scary or “both.” Or you can take a picture of yourself and then talk into a microphone and record your voice. This is me in a doctors uniform with a different voice.

Tell me if you can’t see it.

Put on a Happy Face

Posted by dkahn on September 2, 2007

Sorry for being late in my post. Today’s a slow day. There hasn’t been any news on new sites or anything worth telling so today I’ll just tell you of some cool extensions. Their simple, but their good.

The xdntweaker is only for Windows Vista, XP, and Windows Server 2003. It tweaks the simples things (like not writing “shortcut to” next to the file name when you shortcut files), but they make you feel better. Click Here to download it!

Dr.  Web  is an extension  service that works with Windows, Mac, and Linux and uses Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Opera that actually scans files before they are downloaded to your computer. A definitely awesome tool to use for anyone who uses the web. How does it work? It downloads the file to it’s servers and then checks it and sends it back!

Click Here for  the Firefox version, Click Here for the Internet Explorer version, and Click Here for the Opera version.

Firefox Campus Edition is and add-on that downloads Foxytunes, allowing to connect your music to the web and play music while you surf. Zotero, A note-taking add-on that allows you to take notes while doing research, and Stumbleupon, a website that connects you to different people and websites. These are very exciting tools to get you into your new year at school.

And Finally Fliqs Launched a toolbar that allows you to upload your videos and then pops up some code so you can easily put your video into your blog, profile, etc. No limited space and it’s harder to tell who violated a copyright. Click Here to download it.

Thank you for being good listeners and now I’ll retire to playing the Google Flight Simulator (I’ve got to get a joystick for that game.).

Google Earth’s Secret Flight Simulator

Posted by dkahn on September 1, 2007

We all know that Google does extreme out-of-the-ordinary things, but this is just… “wow.” A flight simulator from Google Earth was found today (or should I say yesterday). It’s a bit difficult to get the gist of it (because it does simulate everything) but I’m going to try my hardest to be the best. Oh. I’m sorry, I haven’t told you the code yet. For Windows, the combination is Ctrl+Alt+A (Make sure it’s a capitalized A). For Mac, it’s Command/Open-Apple Key+Option+A. Once you did that, all you have to do is to go to Tools and the flight simulator will be there. Google ceases to amaze me. What other secrets do they have waiting for us to reveal?

Improve your Search Engine

Posted by dkahn on August 30, 2007

My friend just sent me an invite to test the Mahalo Firefox extension. This search engine searches with you preffered search engine, improving it to the limit. Apparently it’s the first human-powered search engine (meaning it asks you if you would recommend the page to a friend and if you say yes, it brings the link to a higher value when someone searches for something relating to that) but I think I’ve seen some human-powered search engines before.
