Google Sponsors “Lunar X Prize” to the Moon- $30 Million

Posted by dkahn on September 13, 2007

lunarposter
It’s been 35 years since we’ve had human presence on the moon. Google announced today that they are sponsoring a contest for the rocketeers of the world. If you want $20 million all you have to do is build an unmanned vehicle that can launch and land on the moon. You also need to take pictures and send them back to Earth. For an extra $10 million your explorer will need to travel 5,000 meters on the moon, discover ice water and/or survive a night on the moon (14.5 earth days) and find man-made artifacts (including Apollo hardware or human footprints). That’s a big load. The public will be able to view all of this on the GoogleLunarXPrize page and it will have to be a high-definition camera (that’s good). The contest is based on a similar contest, which was won by SpaceShipOne, called Ansari X Prize. All SpaceShipOne had to do was fly into outer space and it was funded by Microsoft. That idea came from the Orteig Prize which was won by the one and only, Charles Lindberg. This is totally revolutionary.

Posted by dkahn on September 10, 2007

Jawbone is a bluetooth service that completely drowns out the noise from outside. It doesn’t matter where you are. You could be outside with lawn mowers and music in the background and the person at the other end would not here a thing.

A Stylish Mouse

Posted by dkahn on September 10, 2007

Did you think I was actually talking about a real mouse, like a pest? Naw. I was talking about an awesome mouse that I found in the stores of Circuit City. It’s simple, cheap ($40), and stylish. You heard it. It’s the perfect gift. You can order it here, or you can buy it at the store.

Stylishmouse

I know. I’m drooling already. Next, I will be looking for a stylish keyboard and mouse pad to match this.

Apple and the Zune 2

Posted by dkahn on September 5, 2007

So on Wednesday, what Apple’s been up to is coming out. I’ve heard that all the iPods coming out have wifi, meaning you can buy iTunes songs and the new nano will have video (I hope it’s larger than the first Nano).

The Zune 2’s earphones are way better than the mucky plastic earphones Ipods come with. Someone leaked these photos out. Apparently, they look as well as they sound.

Gpay for the Gphone

Posted by dkahn on September 4, 2007

Google has recently patented a new service called Gpay. It is a form of paying for the cellphone user. Yes you can buy hings from your cell phone, but think of the possibilities of buying food from vender machines just by using your phone. Could this be the killer App that will separate the gPhone from the rest of the phones? Who knows, but Google’ definitely thinking of some ideas that will not only change the way cell phones can pay, but will change the way vender machines will look. For more info about this patent click here.

World’s first in-ear RF receiver and Can it be the New iPod or is it the Mini iPhone?

Posted by dkahn on September 3, 2007

Phonak Invisity has created an awesome little tech gadget can receive audio from walkie-talkies, cellphones, and special transmitters from up to 250 meters away. The tiny ear piece can run on a single battery for up to 13 hours nonstop and has a  remote control that can increase and reduce the volume. Phonak Invisity says that you cannot see it. I was going through and science magazine of my Dad’s and one of the articles stated that there was a mini earphone for the radio and showed a picture sot of like this one (This was 20 years ago!) I was like wow. I want one of those,  but somehow they don’t make them anymore. This is the best close to it and I’m getting my hands on one of those when they come out! Prices haven’t been issued yet. Apparently there was a gadget that looked just like this in American Dreamz.

nanoorphoneI’ve heard from people that they’re might be a tinier, more stable iPhone coming, but that’s just an idea for what this picture might be or it just might be the new iPod Nano. Who knows? Both are good :) It also might be a fake so don’t get your hopes up because I know you are. The Apple lawyers aren’t saying anything, and if it is something, we’ll probably learn this Wednesday, the day Apple brings new technology out of their bag.
